I've decided to make this journal semi-friends only because I've been increasingly posting stuff that I don't feel comfortable sharing with complete strangers. That is not to say I don't appreciate the wonderful comments people drop every now and then, it's just that with some issues in real life I prefer to keep them to myself and people I feel comfortable disclosing them to.

I will still be posting my fanart, fanfic and thoughts that I feel like sharing publicly here. If you would like to friend me please tell me why and through what means you know me and I will add you. :)

I started posting stuff to pixiv today (under the name of clover cubed) when I came across my Dark Prince fanart. There were a few things I didn't like very much in the original picture so I went ahead and edited it. Changes include a darker tone to better reflect the mood of the image and the missing silouette of the stained glass window on the floor. I've replaced the older version with this new version and you can see it here at my deviantart page.

Since I bought some doujinshi paper at Kinokuniya when we went to J-Town the other day I thought I'd give the paper a whirl and see how well it handles. Unfortunately the paper was not as thick as I had hoped it'd be, but at least it seems to take to ink pretty well, which is more than I can say about the standard copy paper. :p

I finally finished inking all the pages of my "Fire Festival" Princess Tutu doujinshi today. XD I still have to scan, edit, clean, and tone about 20 pages of art, not to mention create the front and back cover images. So it'll still be a while before I can official call it done, but I've been working on this project for about 2 years now and it feels good to know I've made some real progress to completing this doujin. I'm also becoming sorely tempted to start a new doujin now, namely a Gundam 00 one. Maybe I'll do a short one with ≤ 10 pages and not break my neck over it like I did with my anthology entry. I just have to make sure I don't chew off more than I can swallow, or else I'll never get anything done. XD;;

P.S. I won't be posting any scans of the new inked pages because I want to keep them as a surprise once they've become finished products. ;)

I bought the second and third volume of the Kouzoh Ohmori version of the Gundam 00 manga and I'm surprised by how shonen it is (dramatic speeches, pilots getting roughed up in a fight, and lots of screaming and shouting). I've noted before how the two manga (Ohmori and Taguchi) have very distinct styles and approach the story differently, either in a more shonen manner as with Ohmori, or a more shoujo oriented style as Taguchi. Now that I've had a look through all three volumes of the Ohmori manga I realize it's also really Setsuna oriented. Most of the side story about the other meisters (especially involving Allelujah, sadly) is left out, which is why the series ends the first season's story with only three volumes. This is kind of disappointing as I really like the art Ohmori uses and it would've been nice if he drew a more comprehensive manga adaptation of the anime story. There's also some differences in how the story unfolds even though the over arching plot stays more or less the same. I think once I get back to school I'll scan some of the pages that are interesting.

Finally got myself a paid account as my Christmas present. Bring on the icons!

I inked two pages of my PT doujinshi tonight and my wrist is sore. I think I'm out of practice, since the last time I touched the drafts was about a month ago. :p The next few pages are really detailed backgrounds! D: so it's gonna put even more strain on my wrist. Still, my goal is to work on an average of two pages per day. Hopefully I'll get a nice chunk of inking down during break and can get started on some serious editing work. >:3

I finished the Innovators fanart I had been working on (worked from 8pm to 3am straight XD;;). It feels good to get this fanart out of my system so I can now focus on studying for my final and writing my rotation report.

Yup, watching the English dub on TV right now. Patrick sounds good so far, but Billy and Graham's delivery is a bit awkward. Will update this post as I watch more.

- Setsuna's delivery is really stiff. *sigh* Maybe his English VA will get better as the show progresses.

- "It has begun, my mistress"? o_0 Hong Long's line sounds so weird when they translated it like that.

- Random, but I hate how the American version has more commercials than the Japanese version. Don't stop it in the good parts!  XD;;

- "Dynames is targeted and ready to fire!" That particular line sounded pretty nice in English

- Sergei's voice at first had me going D': But I think I'm starting to get used to it

- I can't believe I'm saying this, and with all due respect, but Tieria's voice sounds just a tad gay XD;;

- And Saji's innocent baby-like voice just killed me :p

- Marina's voice is really deep, make her seen like a much older woman IMO

- I want to shoot the HRL chairman's assistant. God his voice and intonation is annoying! Dx

- Mmm, the episode edited for broadcast feels choppy...And why is English Haro's voice so damn annoying?

- "I am the Gundam!" LOLS

- And Haro said "Sucks to be you!" to Lockon in place of "Bad luck!" WTF

Early conclusions: Over all the dub was okay. Lockon's voice was spot on, and I honestly think we've found an English speaking Miki Shinichiro. Alle's voice is good too, and plus points for the English VA having a similar voice to Yoshino Hiroyuki. I initially liked Tieria's voice, but after listening to his lines from the first two episode his VA isn't getting the detached haughtiness of his character across and simply come off as being unemotional and rather flat sounding. With Setsuna sometimes the VA hits the nail on the head, but at other times he delivers his lines so flatly that it makes me think he's trying too hard to get Setsuna's reclusiveness across.

For the supporting characters, IMO Patrick easily takes the cake. Very exuberant and unabashingly loud-mouthed. That's our Patty alright. :D The sound of Graham and Billy's voice are okay, but the way the VAs deliver their lines and how they intone the words make it sound unnatural. Hopefully as they get more used to the characters and get more practice we'll hear a more natural delivery. The voices we hear of the bridge crew so far are good. Too bad they cut out the part where Sumeragi was drinking on the job and Christina was agust at her behavior. Wang Liumei's voice on the other hand, was way too chirpy. I don't think I was able to take her voice seriously expect for her line about intervening as many times as it takes for the world to change.

I've been thinking about how Patrick will get reintroduced, and after seeing the recent scans that have come out, this is how I envision things will go...

Kyoto Animation's Munto to Get New TV Anime

Yes!!!!! Wootz! XDDD God I had been waiting for KyoAni to continue with that story since 2005 forever! Finally they're turning it into a series. Hopefully we'll get some good development and some closure with the anime because the second movie left me wanting more but KyoAni hasn't been forthcoming with a third movie for so long, I had almost given up on the story. If KyoAni is doing the animation then production quality is almost 100% assured. Now we'll just have to see when the anime comes out. :D

I discovered the Japanese fanart site Pixiv today and it is awesome. XD So much fanart to look at, and while there's always the cracky and crappy pictures there are some damn good fanartists on that site. So much love ♥

I drank a whole bottle of green tea today so I'm still wide awake even though I'll be f--ed over in a couple of hours due to lack of sleep. In any case, I finished my Gundam 00 art meme. I'll work on the meme I got from escalove  tomorrow.

Had a little spare time on hand today, so I decided to try this quiz I saw on lechaco 's LJ.



This thing is actually pretty darn accurate about the failure part. Just last night I had a dream that my PI was unhappy with me because I messed up my experiment for today (it actually turned out pretty smoothly). XD;; I guess that says something about my mindset, eh? Anyway, onto writing the protocol for my next experiment!

Ah~ life *sigh* :3 I don't know why I'm in such a chill mood today even though I pulled a "o_0?" face at my PI when she asked me if the paraformaldehyde was ready for tomorrow's experiment. I thought it was for use on Thursday, but no it's for tomorrow's experiment, and then she asked me if I had read the protocols carefully.

So yeah, to redeem myself for being the idiot that I was I wrote out the entire protocol by hand. It's something I had done as an undergrad and I think that way I'd be more familiar with the whole set up. The thing came out to be four pages long, but at least I feel like I have a better handle for the thing, so meh.
